Senior Design Team sdmay22-36 • AI-VVO Cloud-based Machine/Deep Learning for Volt-VAR Control and Optimization

A key issue in the distribution of energy is the loss of energy through resistive and reactive elements in the power distribution network. Our project implements machine learning algorithms in order to control the reactive power at each bus in the power system. As the reactive power at all buses approaches zero, the real power delivered is maximal and leads to the most cost-effective distribution of energy. This project allows for distributed energy resources to be connected to the grid and for the system to dynamically adapt to the given situation. The implementation of a new map-based interface will make the AI-VVO application easier to use by grid operators and other customers of the software.
